An excellent spring blooming delight, Snowdrop Windflower, Anemone sylvestris, thrives in shade and will even grow in heavy shade. Many Anemone bloom in the fall, but the pretty Snowdrop blooms in spring. Snowdrop Windflower’s pearly white flower petals surround a bright center of yellow anthers. The flowers stand 18″ tall above its attractive, deeply-lobed leaves. The flowers are followed with white, wooly seed heads. After the first flush of blooms, an occasional rebloom may occur. Deer resistant.

Growing 1.5′ tall and 1′ wide makes Snowdrop Windflower a good size for the middle of the border. The fragrant 2″ blossoms make a good cut flower. It looks lovely in naturalized areas, under trees, and in woodland settings. It spreads by underground rhizomes and, with too much TLC, can be aggressive.

Plant Snowdrop Windflower in average soil; however, plant in soil that has been amended with organic matter for better results. It prefers moist, rich soil. Plant it in part shade or full shade; keep well watered while the plant is getting established, during dry spells, and when plants are setting up buds and blooming.
