Acer Crimson Queen – Japanese Maple

Our most popular Japanese Maple tree, Crimson Queen, features heavily dissected red leaves on beautiful cascading stems. The lacy leaves emerge bright red before turning a deep burgundy and again turning bright crimson in the fall. Its graceful weeping form looks great on hillsides or spilling over retaining walls. Slowly matures to 10′ tall and wide over 30 years.
Use Crimson Queen as a focal point in shady perennial gardens, in Japanese gardens, to frame doorways, or as a stand-alone spectacular specimen. Crimson Queen is noted for its excellent leaf color retention throughout the growing season. Small reddish flowers in spring give way to samaras, which ripen in late summer to early fall. Just like many maples, the flowers are rather attractive close-up.
Plant in sun to part shade locations in soil that has been amended with compost. Keep well watered until established and during dry spells.
