Salvia Caramia, Sage

2020 PERENNIAL OF THE YEAR

For months on end ‘Caramia’ Meadow Sage, Salvia, brings striking dark stems with violet-purple flowers. Its erect flower stalks stand tall, never flopping like other varieties. From late spring through summer its waves of beautiful flowers keep coming. A long lived perennial that is very easy to grow, and very drought tolerant, standing up in the hottest summers. Deer and rabbit resistant. Fragrant foliage. Excellent for cutting.

A fantastic plant for flower beds, edging, containers, cutting and pollinator gardens. Fantastic in mass plantings and for replacing annuals in large beds. Being long-lived and profuse blooming makes it an ideal choice for areas where you don’t want to replant year after year.

Plant in full sun to light shade and well-drained soil. Although drought tolerant, for best blooming keep consistently watered. Removing spent flowers will encourage more blooms. A hard shear in late summer will rejuvenate plants for a fresh fall bloom.
