Uvularia gradiflora, Great Merrybells
Large, yellow hanging bells open in spring Great Merrybells, Uvularia grandiflora. Spreading via rhizomes, this Missouri native perennial slowly forms into dense clumps perfect for naturalizing areas around trees or can be used as tall low-maintenance ground cover.
When in bloom leaves look curled and slightly shriveled. After the bloom is finished leaves turn in a lush mound of green. A choice early pollinator plant for many native bees.
