Sedum – Wildfire Stonecrop
A fantastic, low care Sedum, ‘Wildfire’ carpets the garden with shiny cherry-red leaves edged with a contrasting neon-pink edge. Its vibrant foliage forms a dense mat of intense color. In late summer large rosy-pink flowers appear. Deer and bunnies don’t care for it. Butterflies and other pollinators always visit its nectar rich blossoms. In fall, its leaves transform to pumpkin-orange.
A vigorous grower, ‘Wildfire’ Sedum branches heavily making it an ideal ground cover. It works beautifully tucked in rock gardens and perennial beds, as an edging plant, along walkways, and with other succulents in containers. It makes a perfect choice for sunny, dry spaces. Like all Sedum, ‘Wildfire’ thrives on neglect, showing its best colors when grown in dry areas in full sun.
