Prunus – Otto Luyken English Laurel
A popular alternative to Boxwood, Otto Luyken English Laurel, prunus, is a perfect foundation plant. Glossy green evergreen foliage looks great all year long. In spring fragrant white flowers appear followed by small black berries. Growing only 3-4′ tall and 6-8′ wide, Otto Luyken gets much wider than tall, but is tolerant of heavy pruning. Easy to grow in sun to shade and in poor soils. Deer and rabbit resistant.
Awarded the Garden of Merit award by the Royal Horticultural Society.
