Platycodon Pop Star Balloon Flower
A fun perennial, Pop Star Balloon Flower, Platycodon, features flower buds that swell into huge plump balloon-like orbs then pop open to reveal huge star-shaped violet blue, star-shaped blossoms. It has a very compact habit, growing only 6-8″ tall and 10-12″ wide. Long blooming, you can expect to see its beautiful blossoms throughout summer.
One of the last perennials to emerge in spring. Plants have long roots which makes them difficult to move. Wonderful in the mixed garden, in containers and as a cut flower.
Plant in full sun to part shade in well-drained soil. Cut plant back to the ground after the first hard frost.
