Penstemon Dakota Burgundy Beardtongue
Dakota Burgundy Beardtongue, Penstemon, brings glossy purple black leaves topped with tall stems of lovely lavender to violet flowers. Shorter and more compact than the other varieties, it makes a good choice to tuck into smaller places. Its fabulous foliage looks fantastic all season, setting off everything around it. Its attractive burgundy seed pods follow the flowering performance for extended interest in the fall, and make great cut flowers for seasonal decorations.
An easy to grow, tough plant, this Beardtongue takes the heat and humidity in stride but is also very cold hardy. It continues to provide terrific color in the landscape all season long. A long-lived perennial.
Plant in full sun in well drained soil. Keep well watered especially when plants are setting up buds and blooming.
