Mangave Bad Hair Day
If only our bad hair days looked as good as Bad Hair Day Mangave! Like a head of hair, this fun, cooky plant produces narrow, flat lime green leaves that form an arching habit. Its leaf blades have light blush red spotting with a distinct blush toward the tips of the leaves. It looks like it was created for decorative containers, especially face planters.
Mangave is a relatively new phenomenon, an intergeneric cross of Manfreda (Century Plant) x Agave. These rare hybrids combine the best of both worlds: the better growth rate and the interesting patterns of Manfreda, and the habit and refinement of Agave. They make fun, interesting, and long lived houseplants.
Mangave is a tender perennial or succulent plant that grows best in full sun. Plant in well-drained, dry to average soil in containers just slightly wider than the width of the rosette or plant directly in the ground. In summer when the plants are actively growing, they appreciate a bit of supplemental watering and half-strength fertilizer. Plants should stay inside in spring until evening cold is above 60 F. Bring inside in early fall before temps drop below 60 F.
Offered in-house and online. Subject to availability.
