A beloved Missouri native, Blue Cardinal Flower, Lobelia siphilitica, brings lovely blue flowers that top tall 2-3′ stems July to September. Blue Cardinal Flower is easy to grow in rich, moist soil in full sun to part shade. In St. Louis it prefers a part shade site. Tolerant of deep shade. Deer resistant.
A good choice for rain gardens, native perennial gardens, in the woodland garden or naturalized plantings.
Plant in shade to part shade. In medium to wet soils it will tolerate full sun to part shade. Give consistent moisture.
