Dramatic, Bold, and Beautiful
Bring tall elegance and exotic fragrance to your garden with Friso Tree Lily, Lilium. 2′ wide candelabra-shaped stems display this gem’s enormous, 8″ crimson flowers edged in white. The colorful blossoms display hues of deep crimson and cranberry red, with the same lovely colors highlighting each flower’s back. Its intensely fragrant blossoms will fill your garden and your home with a heady scent. Each majestic 4-6′ stem brings many trumpet-shaped blossoms. The buds open in succession, keeping the plants in flower over a long time in mid to late summer.
Use Friso Tree Lily as a special specimen plant. Its towering height makes it an ideal background to other perennials. Use it in cottage, cutting, fragrant, and pollinator gardens. Very easy to grow, it thrives in the St Louis, Missouri area. Also known as Silk Road Lily.
North American Lily Society Hall of Fame Winner.
Hybridizers have worked hard to bring us Tree Lilies, also known as Orienpet Lilies, crosses between Oriental and Trumpet Lilies. Extremely vigorous, they mature and bulk up quickly. Each year brings more flowers than the year before. Sometimes called Giant Orienpet Lilies, these long-lived perennial lilies bring the best of their parents—massive blooms, intense fragrance, and extreme vigor.
Plant in full sun to part shade in soil amended with compost or other organic matter. Although extremely drought tolerant, keep well watered for the biggest blossoms and a bumper crop of blooms.
