A Missouri native perennial, Blazing Star, Liatris mucronata, delights all types of critters with its large wands of bright purple flowers. Its fluffy blosssoms which appear in late summer and early fall are magnets for butterflies, hummingbirds, humans and others. Drought tolerant and resistant to deer. Flowers are good for cutting and for drying. Also known as Gayfeather.
Plant in full sun in well draining soil.
