SKU: n/a.$13.99
Like all Liatris, Smallhead Blazing Star, Liatris microcephala, brings multitudes of rosy purple blossoms that humans and other creatures adore. This important US native perennial delights all types of critters with its bright purple fluffy blossoms. The mid to late-summer flowers are magnets for butterflies, hummingbirds, songbirds, humans, and others. The interesting flower stalks begin blooming at the top and finish at the stalk bottom. Drought tolerant and resistant to deer. Grows 2′ tall and 1′ wide. Also known as Appalachian Blazing Star.
Use Smallhead Blazing Star in wildlife, pollinator, cutting, cottage, and naturalized gardens. Not fussy about soil, if the soil is too rich the plants tend to flop. A petite selection of Blazing Star, this wildflower makes a good choice for smaller gardens.
Plant in full sun in well-draining soil. Tolerant of many soil types as long as the plant has good drainage in winter.
