A beautiful, easily adaptable shrub, Little Henry Virginia Sweetspire, Itea, features graceful drooping, white flower clusters. As its name implies, its 6″ flowers are sweetly fragrant. Its flowers appear in spring and early summer. The shrubs only grow 2-3′ tall and wide and have a mounded, attractive shape.

An easy to grow shrub, it tolerates wet and dry soil, full sun to full shade. In fall its foliage changes to brilliant oranges and reds. Fantastic for grouping and for massing on large banks, in beds, and perennial and shrub borders. This is a good plant for woodland gardens or at the front of the mixed border. Its small size makes it perfect for smaller borders and beds.

Very hardy and reliable, its parents are the Missouri native Sweetspire. It tolerates heat, high humidity, wet soils, and drought. Very easy to grow with little care, it adapts to most soils and light.  Grows in sun to shade. Although tolerant of dark shade, fall color will be best in areas that get at least some sun each day.
