For a bold plant with exceptional flowers and foliage, look no further since you found it with Ming Treasure Ampliflora Iris. Considered a top new plant discovery, this gem has been described as an Iris on steroids. Its thick, handsome 4″ wide foliage will grow 3′ tall and an impressive 6′ wide. Ming Treasure Ampliflora Iris features 5″ velvety violet-blue flowers on sky-reaching 5′ scapes. The blossoms are highlighted with a yellow crest and a small white signal area. A long bloomer, you’ll enjoy multitudes of flowers for 4-6 weeks.
Use Ming Treasure Iris in perennial and Iris beds. It makes a beautiful addition to cutting and cottage gardens. Try it as a stunning backdrop to other perennials, as a hedge, or as a stand-out focal point. The plant is significantly larger than most other species of Iris and brings a commanding presence to the garden. Easy to grow, it prefers light shade.
A new hybrid, Ming Treasure Iris was discovered naturally growing in China. With its handsome looks, it stood out from others. Its parent may be the Japanese Root, Iris tectorum. Ampliflora Iris is an interspecific hybrid, scientists are not certain who its parents are. Ming Treasure Iris is a vigorous selection of this new species.
Growing instructions: Plant Ampliflora Iris in partial shade locations, morning sun with afternoon shade, or dappled shade. Add compost or other organic matter when planting.
