Iris cristata – Powder Blue Giant Crested Iris
A more vigorous selection of the Missouri native perennial, Powder Blue Giant Crested Iris, Iris cristata, exhibits more vigor, larger flowers and is generally easier to grow. Huge, for its species, soft blue flowers with yellow crests and deep blue markings bloom in spring, attracting hummingbirds. Sword-shaped leaves form into a dense patch about 12-18″ in diameter. Leaves tend to all slightly arch in the same direction looking like a cresting wave. Deer resistant and drought tolerant once established.
Plant in sun to part shade areas in soil that has been amended with organic mater. Although drought tolerant, for best results, water during dry spells. Tolerant of sunny locations, but will need consistent moisture.
5″ pot
