Hydrangea Pop Star
SKU: n/a.From the creators of the first reblooming Hydrangea, Endless Summer, comes a new extremely prolific bloomer named Pop Star. In addition to the full coverage of early blooms, Pop Star is the quickest Hydrangea macrophylla to rebloom, with new buds appearing just four weeks after a hard cutback to remove terminal buds. Growing only 18-36″ tall and wide this petite beauty excels in the front of the garden, in containers, or used as a small hedge.
“Not only is Pop Star the most compact hydrangea we’ve developed, it’s also the strongest rebloomer we’ve ever trialed,” shares David Roberts, Bailey Innovations’ General Manager and Head Plant Breeder. “Pop Star represents the new gold standard by which we will evaluate all future introductions.” During testing and trials, they found that even in temperatures below 0°F, Pop Star survived and bloomed the next year. “Even when Pop Star dies back, it has the power to not only produce new stems, but also produce flowers,”
Plant in shade to part shade, morning sun with afternoon shade or dappled light is best. Add compost or other organic matter to the soil when planting. Use a starter fertilizer like Espoma Bio-tone Starter to get your plants off to a quick start. Keep well watered when establishing plant, when the plant is setting up buds and blooming, and during dry spells. Flowers will most likely be pink in the St. Louis area unless soil is amended with a soil acidifier like Espoma Soil Acidifier.
