Hydrangea Pinky Pollen Ring Smooth Hydrangea
Have you garden come alive with Pinky Pollen Ring Smooth Hydrangea. An outstanding selection of our Missouri native shrub, Smooth Hydrangea, Hydrangea arborescens, Pinky Pollen Ring features clouds of pastel pink, lacecap flowers that will create a frenzy of pollinator activity in your garden! Stiff stems keep these flowers upright, even after heavy rains. Deep green foliage forms into a nice large mound, a perfect backdrop to these showy flowers.
Smooth Hydrangea flowers heavily May through midsummer, with a scattering of additional flowers appearing into September. Its magnificent flowers dry right on the shrub, giving addtional beauty all fall and winter. Its other outstanding qualitities include strong stems that hold up the huge flowers, deep bluish-green-glossy foliage, easy care.
Hydrangea arborescens creates an ethereal site in the shade garden. Its large flowers are held on sturdy, non-drooping stems. Smooth Hydrangea works well massed as a hedge or in the garden, or as a specimen. It can be naturalized in woodland, native, or rain gardens. Smooth Hydrangea makes a luscious background for perennial gardens. Its flowers are fantastic fresh or dried.
One of the toughest beauties you can find, Smooth Hydrangeas tolerate everything Mother Nature throws at us in Missouri–massive droughts, long hot summers, heat, humidity, and extreme cold. Tolerant of many different soils and moisture conditions, Smooth Hydrangeas are very easy to grow. They prefer shade to part shade, and even grow in deep shade, yet they will also go in full sun if enough moisture is given. Guaranateed to bloom since Smooth Hydrangea blooms on new wood. To revitalize shrubs and to encourage vigorous stem growth prune back close to the ground in late winter. Smooth Hydrangeas may die to the ground in harsh winters.
Plant in shade to part shade to full sun. If planted in full sun more moisture will be needed.
