Hydrangea Flare, Panicle Hydrangea
Set your garden on fire with ‘Flare’ Panicle Hydrangea! Enjoy full size blooms on a dwarf shrub. A gorgeous Hydrangea with loads of flamboyant blooms that emerge pure white and then turn bright red from the bottom up. Flowers eventually age to a dark red and stay colorful all through the fall. Strong stems hold the flowers upright and make it an excellent cut flower, fresh and dried. Blooming on the current season’s growth, it is guaranteed to bloom even after a rough winter or if it was pruned at the wrong time.
Only growing 2-3′ tall and wide, ‘Flare’ Panicle Hydrangea’s petite size makes it a fantastic choice for small gardens, low hedges and containers, or anywhere you want sizzling hot color. Use it as a spectacular stand-alone specimen or it in drifts to replace annuals, they will give you the rich colors but you won’t need to plant year after year. Their wonderful displays persist through winter as their flowers dry on the shrubs, or their flowers can be brought indoors for long lasting fresh or dried arrangements.
Plant in full sun to part shade and keep consistently watered, especially when plants are setting blooms and blooming. Plants benefit with a 2-3″ layer of mulch. Prune plants back to 6-12″ in early spring. This will build up a strong base and encourage vigorous new growth and many more blooms.
