Hibiscus French Cabaret Purple, Rose of Sharon
The lavender-purple pom-poms of French Cabaret Purple Rose of Sharon, Hibiscus will have you dancing in your seats with joy. These sterile showy flowers begin blooming in early summer and won’t stop until frost. Use this showy and easy shrub as an accent or backdrop in the garden, or as flowering hedge.
It easily grows in full sun and is adaptable to most soils and works works well in rain gardens. Deer resistant and attracts butterflies. Although pruning is not necessary, it can be heavily pruned in late winter or early spring.
Plant in soil that has been amended with organic matter in full sun. Although a tough plant tolerant of dry periods, for best blooming give good soakings during dry spells, and even better, keep consistently watered.
