Heliopsis – Sunstruck Perennial Sunflower
If you are looking for a plant that demands all eyes Sunstruck Perennial Sunflower, Heliopsis is it. Its striking white leaves are veined with emerald. All summer into fall 2” large, golden yellow flowers appear. Compared to others in its class it blooms earlier with richer colors. Don’t be surprised when you see butterflies, bees, and other important pollinators enjoying its abundant blooms. It makes a delightful cut flower. Deer resistant.
Sunstruck Perennial Sunflower matures to a compact 16″ tall and 14″ wide plant. It’s smaller than many other Heliopsis, making it ideal for containers, edging, and front of the perennial border. It makes a fantastic combination with blue flowering plants like Veronica and Salvia. Sunstruck works great as a seasonal plant in mixed containers. Place it in the center of your composition as the focal point or “thriller.” At the end of the season it can be planted in the ground.
Plant in full sun to light shade. Although tolerant of drought for best blooming water during dry spells. You will get more flowers if you keep it well watered when budding up and blooming.
