Heliopsis helianthoides – Oxeye Sunflower
SKU: n/a.Once the Missouri native Oxeye Sunflower, Heliopsis helianthoides, begins blooming in summer it won’t stop until frost. 2-3″ golden yellow flowers appear on tall 3-4′ plants. A delight in the garden and and in bouquets—a top choice for cutting gardens, beds, and naturalized areas. Easily grown in any soil. Plants are short-lived but reseed. Host plant for multiple butterfly and moth species. Flowers are frequented by many pollinators.
Plant in full sun. Not fussy about soil. Although drought tolerant, for best blooming, keep well watered when plants are setting up buds and in flower.
