Get hot sizzling color for your sun garden with Fire Twister Oxeye Sunflower, Heliopsis. This sizzling beauty brings vibrant orange-red flowers with bold purple foliage to the summer garden. The incredible combination of foliage and flowers creates months of brilliant color. Its huge 3-5″ spicy flowers appear from June into October. In spring, the foliage emerges deep mahogany-purple on eggplant black stems. This variety grows smaller than other Heliopsis making it ideal for many garden uses and containers. Grows 28″ tall and 24″ wide. Perennial.
Fire Twister Oxeye Sunflower’s parent is the Missouri native perennial Oxeye Sunflower that grows naturally in tall grass prairies and along the woods edges. Its native heritage brings great drought resistant. Don’t be surprised when you see butterflies, bees, and other important pollinators enjoying its abundant blooms. It makes a delightful cut flower. Deer resistant.
Plant in full sun to light shade. Although tolerant of drought for best blooming water when plants are setting up buds and in flower, and during dry spells.
