Gillenea trifolata – Bowman’s Root
SKU: n/a.Featuring Lacy star-shaped white flowers, Bowman’s Root, Gillenia trifolata is a beautiful lesser-known Missouri and Illinois native perennial. Bowman’s Root is lovely in a mass planting where its lacy white flowers can shimmer in a light breeze. This sun to part shade native tolerates tree root competition well as long as it has a nice layer of organic mulch. Clean, disease-free foliage often turns deep bronzy red in fall and contrasts beautifully with the more typical oranges and yellows in the perennial border. Interesting form and unique seed heads persist into winter. Great for cut flowers! Also goes by Porteranthus trifolatus.
Plant in sun to part shade.
