Geranium Biokovo Hardy Geranium
2015 Perennial Plant Of The Year
Biokovo Geranium earned the 2015 Perennial Plant of the Year for its outstanding qualities. Deep green, pretty round leaves create a dense mat of evergreen foliage. In late spring and early summer plants, are covered with delightful white flowers with pink sepals. Flowering continues sporadically all summer. In fall and winter, foliage displays hues of ruby and russet red.
Biokovo Geranium makes an excellent ground cover under trees and in shady nooks. Weeds can’t get through its thick mat of foliage. Its low growing habit makes it an outstanding edger. Tolerant of drought, and deer and bunnies find it distasteful. Very long-lived and easy to grow, it is not fussy about soil and is tolerant of drought once established. Also known as Cranesbill Geranium for its pointy seed heads.
Plant in soil that has been amended with organic matter in full shade to light shade. Give plants protection from hot afternoon sun. Although drought tolerant, for best blooming keep consistently watered.
Offered in-house. Subject to availability.
