Echinacea Lovely Lolly Coneflower
With deep pink pompom blooms and deep purple stems Lovely Lolly Coneflower, Echinacea, brings a fun element to the garden. Prefers full sun but will tolerate moderate shade once established. Blooming begins in summer and continues into fall. Lovely Lolly is a medium sized plant with large, fully double pom pom blooms that won’t disappoint. The plants are vigorous and healthy and have multiple buds per stem. Thick strong stems hold these delectable flowers upright.
With loads of blossoms Lovely Lolly Coneflower creates fabulous displays for gardens, containers, cut flower bouquets, and dried arrangements. Excellent for mass plantings, meadows or naturalized areas. Fantastic used as a seasonal plant for the center focal point or “thriller” for container compositions.
Coneflower’s seed heads are a favorite for dried flower arrangements and add considerable interest to winter outdoor landscapes. Goldfinches and other birds swarm to Coneflower seeds.
Growing instructions: Plant in full sun, at least 6 hours of sun a day, in well-draining soil. Add organic matter to soil when planting. For best flowering, keep well watered, especially when plants are setting up bloom and blooming. Let plants dry out between watering. An occasional squirt of liquid fertilizer will improve flowering. Although they will bloom continually without deadheading, cutting back spent blooms will encourage more flowers.
