Echinacea Lemon Drop Coneflower
As refreshing as the sweet candy, Lemon Drop Coneflower, Echinacea, brings joyful blossoms with layers of brilliant yellow petals. They exhibit superior performance including strong upright stems that hold their glowing blossoms up high.
With loads of blossoms it creates fabulous displays for gardens, containers, cut flower bouquets, and dried arrangements. Excellent for mass plantings, meadows or naturalized areas. A member of the excellent ‘Cone-Fections’ series of coneflowers that brings reliable winter hardiness, vigorous growth, and spectacular colors and forms. Fantastic used as an seasonal plant for the center focal point or “thriller” for container compositions.
Coneflower’s seed heads are a favorite for dried flower arrangements and add considerable interest to winter outdoor landscapes. Goldfinches and other birds swarm to Coneflower seeds.
Growing instructions: Plant in full sun, at least 6 hours of sun a day, in well-draining soil. Add organic matter to soil when planting. For best flowering, keep well watered, especially when plants are setting up bloom and blooming. Let plants dry out between watering. An occasional squirt of liquid fertilizer will improve flowering. Although they will bloom continually without deadheading, cutting back spent blooms will encourage more flowers.
