Diervilla Kodiak Black Dwarf Bush Honeysuckle
Durable and dramatic dark purple foliage makes Kodiak Black Diervilla a beautiful, easy choice for landscaping. New growth emerges deep purple-black all season but is especially dramatic in spring. The neat, tidy stems are peppered with yellow trumpet-shaped blooms all summer. Fall brings brilliant burgundy color to the leaves. This fast growing, vigorous North American native is unbothered by pests or diseases.
Not to be confused with the invasive Bush Honeysuckle. Diervilla is not a true honeysuckle, only shares the common name due to its “honeysuckle-like” yellows.
A tough plant that does well even with inhospitable soil types. Diervilla tolerates shade, drought, erosion, clay soils, dry soils, urban conditions and is deer resistant. Its sweetly fragrant flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Diervilla matures to a densely branched shrub that forms underground suckers. Direvilla is ideal for your hardest spots, naturalizing, or erosion control on hillsides.
Plant in full sun to full shade.
