Sweetly scented rose-ink flowers bloom on Summersweet Ruby Spice, Clethra, in summer. Was chosen as a Plant of Merit by the Missouri Botanical Garden for it’s exceptional ornamental qualities and dependable performance in the St. Louis area.
Clethras are delightful shrubs prized for their sweetly scented flowers which attract bees and butterflies. Naturally found in swampy areas, they prefer to placed in locations with plenty of water, a great choice for rain gardens. They prefer sun to part shade, but can tolerate deep shade.
