Cimicifuga aka Actea – Hillside Black Beauty Bugbane
SKU: n/a.Spectacular plants, Hillside Black Beauty Bugbane, Cimicifuga, features striking purplish-black foliage that is one of the darkest to date. Its ferny foliage adds great texture to the shade garden. Fragrant, foot long bottle brush flowers open white with a pale blush pink tinge in fall on 4-7’ stems. A collectors item.
It grows best in moisture-retentive soil. A super combination with a bright yellow ground cover like Yellow Creeping Jenny, Lysimachia aureus. Also known as Actea, Snakeroot, and Fairy Candles.
Plant in shade to part shade in soil that has been amended with organic matter. Keep well watered, especially during dry spells.
