Caryopteris – Pavillion Blue Bluebeard Shrub
If you want brilliant late summer and fall color, plus the added bonus of a major pollinator powerhouse, Pavillion Blue Bluebeard, Caryopteris, makes a superior choice. Its magnificent lilac blue flowers cover shrubs in late summer through fall when little else is in bloom. Its airy blossoms cover its entire stems from top to bottom. The flowers are loved by bees and other pollinators – expect to be delighted as you watch them dance around this nectar-rich petite shrub. It only grows 15-18″ tall.
Use Pavillion Blue Bluebeard in perennial gardens, pollinator gardens, and containers. Its short stature makes it ideal for many uses, including lining walkways and garden beds. It makes gorgeous containers. Bluebeards are short-lived shrubs that perform in dry, poor soils in full sun. Living usually about 3 years in total, what they lack in longevity they make up for in flower power. Shear down to the ground in winter or spring to give your Bluebeard the best form. Deer, drought, and rabbit resistant.
