Carex Ice Cream – Japanese Sedge
Cool down your hot spots with Ice Cream Japanese Sedge, Carex oshimensis. Deep green leaf blades with wide icy centers mature to a large cascading mound.
This evergreen sedge looks excellent coming out of containers, along walkways or grown on slopes. A vigorous easy-going sedge that thrives in sun or shade. Tolerates dry shade. We use this sedge often in pots, especially in the fall, its evergreen foliage looks good through winter.
Plant in full sun or part shade, morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered light is ideal. In full sun, plants will need more moisture. Although drought tolerant, plants prefer moist soil and benefit from deep soakings especially during dry spells.
