Asimina Mango Pawpaw Tree
SKU: n/a.The vigorous Mango Pawpaw Tree, Asimina triloba, has the reputation of being the fastest-growing Pawpaw Tree. It produces abundant harvests of sweet, plump fruit.
The Missouri native Pawpaw Tree produces fruit in fall that has a flavor reminiscent of bananas. In fact, the Pawpaw Tree is referred to as the Missouri Banana Tree. It often spreads by root suckers to form colonies or thickets. The host plant to the Zebra Swallowtail Butterfly, their caterpillars exclusively eat Pawpaw leaves.
Growing instructions: Plant in average, medium to wet, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Prefers moist, acidic, fertile soils. Will grow in shade but becomes leggy.
