An adored shade perennial, European Ginger, Asarum european, blooms with brownish-red flowers that appear under the emerging, glossy emerald green leaves. It makes an excellent ground cover for the shade garden. Naturalizes easily in woodland settings. Its beautiful foliage matures to a weed smothering carpet. Rare.
Easy to grow, it needs little maintenance once established. Deer and rabbit don’t touch it.
Plant in shade to part shade. Amend soil with organic matter. Keep well watered until established. Although drought tolerant, give good soakings during dry spells.
Offered in-house. Subject to availability.
