Onoclea sensibilis Sensitive Fern
A lush Missouri native fern, Sensitive Fern, Onoclea sensibilis, can be found in swampy, marshy areas, yet grows easily in urban settings. Sensitive Fern’s thick bright green fronds can grow 2-4′ long. It grows up to 3-4′ tall and wide. It was named Sensitive Fern because its fronds suffer immediate damage from the first fall frost.
It prefers consistent moisture and shade to part shade.
