Alcea Halo Cerise, Hollyhock

From world class English breeders comes Halo Cerise Hollyhock, Alcea rosea. With this joyous selection you’ll be delighted with extra large cerise pink flowers and large purple centers. Its giant, spectacularly colored blossoms create a solid wall of cheer. Plants will reach 6’ in full sun and moist soil. Wonderful cut flowers. The flowers appear on tall stately stalks over a long time in summer. Plants grow 5-6′ tall, 24″ wide and prefer full sun. Butterflies and hummingbirds adore it. Unlike other Hollyhocks that are short lived, Halo Cerise Hollyhock is perennial.

A member of the outstanding Halo series of Hollyhocks, Alcea. From the breeding work of  the world renown British seed company Thompson & Morgan comes this series of hollyhocks that was 16 years in the making.  These varieties were selected and hybridized over many generations for their large, single, bicolor flowers.  Each displays a prominent, contrasting lighter or darker colored halo in the center of the flower. Members of this series form a bushy clump of rugose green foliage with tall spikes carrying large, colorful blossoms in early to midsummer. They are hardy perennials.

Plant in full sun. Add a shovel full or two of organic matter when planting. Mulch. For best results keep well watered, especially when plants are setting up buds and blooming.
